Our Story

Luke and Natalie

Natalie's rendition of the facts:

Luke and I met the summer before classes began for the fall 2005 semester at Texas Tech. JoAnne and I ran into Luke and his roommate, Casey, while they were playing pool one night. JoAnne and I saw them a couple times that summer, but nothing too exciting at this point in time, except a simple introduction thanks to JoAnne.

One morning when classes started for the fall semester, I realized Luke was in one of my classes. Now, you might wonder how Luke (a computer science major) and I (a biochemistry major) had a class together...but it was an art class! I am a morning person, and at 8 am I was very excited to see someone I knew in one of my classes. Luke was equally excited but didn't show it because again...it was 8 in the morning. We enjoyed the art class together and hung out often during that semester but didn't start dating until the spring semester. We went on our first date with JoAnne and Ian for JoAnne's 22nd birthday celebration, and we've been dating ever since.

As many of you know, I graduated from undergrad, moved, and started law school at Southern Illinois University. We continued dating during my horrendous first year of law school and Luke's exciting last year of undergrad. Luke got a job in Houston, and at the start of my second year, I transferred back to Texas Tech to finish law school. Because of the long-distance aspect, I've been able to escape Lubbock when I go to visit Luke in Houston, and Luke's family has gotten to see him more often because he comes to visit me in Lubbock.

Now, flash forward a couple years. Luke came back to Lubbock with me once we finished all of our Christmas travels. When we finished unpacking all of my stuff, Luke handed me another present. He said he didn't give it to me when we were at my parents' house because he thought it was sort of cheesy. It was a book he made that had many of the pictures we've taken since we started dating, and it had a mini-story with the pictures. (A lot of the pics are on this website.) I thought this was just a normal Christmas present until I got to the very last page. It was a picture of Luke on one knee in a suit, and he was holding an empty ring box; the caption read--will you? And of course I said yes, which is why you are looking at this website. :)
